We have been trying to confirm for a while now if we would be getting a Mi 7 or Mi 8 from Xiaomi, and the latter has been confirmed as of the time of writing this piece. Not only confirmed as a new leak now tells us what else to expect with the upcoming device.
According to the leaked photo, the Mi 8 will come out of the box with a 6.2-inch screen set at a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. Under that screen will be such configurations as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Given that this is the flagship unit for this year, that is not a big surprise.
What should be a nice surprise is the pairing of 6GB RAM to as much as 128GB of internal storage. Those are then even bettered by the dual 20MP + 16MP sensors on the back. For selfies, we have a 16MP camera to look at.
We haven’t seen the unit yet but something tells us this good selfie camera will also double as a facial recognition sensor.
Running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and weighing about 172g, a 3300mAh battery is expected to keep the lights on. Following that roundup, we will be glad to confirm, at the time of launch or before, if there would truly be an in-display fingerprint sensor on the unit.
